We crossed into Laos from Northern Thailand at Chiang Kong - HouayXai crossing and spent the night in Houay Xai.  The second day, we travelled by boat on the Mekong River from Houay Xai to Luang Prabang.   We stayed in Luang Prabang for 5 days then took a bus to Vang Vien.  We spent 3 nights in Vang Vien then travelled on by bus to the capital, Vientiene.  After two days in Vientiene, we boarded a plane to Siem Reap, Cambodia.  Our stay in Laos was way too short and we hope to return soon.
